Greenwich Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Greenwich Man and Van in relation to our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation are severe violations of fundamental human rights. We are committed to conducting our business in a way that respects the dignity and rights of every individual and to preventing modern slavery in all its forms.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Greenwich Man and Van operates under a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour within our business or supply chains. Any employee, contractor, or supplier found to be involved in modern slavery practices will face immediate and decisive action, which may include termination of contracts or working relationships and reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
We expect all individuals working for or with us, at any level, to share this commitment and to act responsibly and ethically in all business dealings.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Greenwich Man and Van provides transport and removal services, including local moves, loading and unloading, and associated logistics. Our supply chains include vehicle and equipment providers, fuel suppliers, subcontracted drivers and porters, premises and facilities services, and various professional and administrative service providers.
We recognise that certain areas of logistics and subcontracted labour can carry a higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore focus particular attention on these areas when assessing and managing the risk of modern slavery.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors who uphold lawful and ethical labour practices. Our expectations are communicated through our supplier requirements and standard terms, which prohibit the use of forced, trafficked, or child labour and require compliance with all applicable employment and human rights legislation.
Where proportionate to the nature of the relationship, we carry out due diligence and checks on new suppliers, with particular focus on labour agencies and subcontracted labour providers. This may include requesting evidence of right-to-work procedures, policies on modern slavery, and information on working hours and pay practices.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request information from existing suppliers where we identify heightened risk or concerns. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to demonstrate adequate safeguards against modern slavery, we will take steps to address the issue, which may include corrective action plans or the cessation of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, workers, and any third party with concerns about possible modern slavery or unethical labour practices within our operations or supply chains to raise them at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be reported to line management, senior management, or through any internal reporting channels that are made available to staff.
Reports can be made in good faith and without fear of retaliation. We will treat all concerns seriously, review them promptly, and take appropriate action where any issue is identified. Where necessary and appropriate, we may refer matters to external authorities.
Training and Awareness
We seek to promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and management of subcontractors. Training and guidance may cover the indicators of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns, and the responsibilities of individuals within the business to uphold our zero-tolerance stance.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Greenwich Man and Van is committed to continually improving its approach to preventing modern slavery. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement on an annual basis, or more frequently if required by changes in law, business operations, or identified risks.
As part of this review, we will assess the effectiveness of our measures, including supplier checks, internal reporting mechanisms, and staff awareness. Where opportunities for improvement are identified, we will update our policies, procedures, and training accordingly.
This statement has been approved by the management of Greenwich Man and Van and represents our ongoing commitment to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implement and enforce systems and controls that seek to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
